Upper Peninsula Side-by-Side Classic
RULES
All Events
1. Shells may not contain more than 1 1/8 oz. of shot, which must be #7 ˝ or smaller.
2. “Field Rules” govern malfunctions in ALL events. If the gun doesn’t go bang, the target is lost. If the gun does go bang, the target is scored.
Sporting Clays – 120 targets
3. “Full use of the gun” is permitted.
4. Broken targets are dealt with as follows:
Single target – If the shooter fires and breaks a piece, it is dead. If the shooter fires and does not break a piece, it is lost. If the shooter does not fire, the target is thrown over. Any target broken by the trap can be broken by the shooter by breaking a piece of the broken target.
True pair, one target broken – If the shooter fires only once or not at all, AND does not break both targets, nothing is established and the pair is repeated.
True pair, both targets broken – If the shooter fires at all, the results are scored. If the shooter does not fire, the pair is repeated.
True poison pair or covey, only poison target broken – The results are scored whether or not the shooter fires. In other words, if the shooter does not fire, it is a lost target, and if the shooter fires and misses, it is a lost target. If the shooter fires and breaks the legal target, it is dead.
Poison pair, both targets broken – Same as true pair, both targets broken
Following or report pair, only first target broken – If the shooter fires at all, the results are scored; other wise the pair is repeated.
Following or report pair, only second target broken – If the shooter fires two times, either twice at the first target or once at each target, the results are scored; otherwise nothing is established and the pair is repeated.
Following or report pair, both targets broken – If the shooter fires at all, the results are scored; otherwise the pair is repeated.
Covey – A covey is a presentation in which there are more than two legal targets in the air simultaneously. If one or more of the legal targets is broken and the shooter does not fire, the targets will be thrown over. If the shooter fires and breaks at least one target, the shooter has the option of scoring the result or having the covey rethrown with nothing established. Otherwise, the result is scored.
Flurry –76 targets in 2 1/2 minutes, one shooter
5. As this event is, in part, a test of both shooter and gun, no allowance will be made for either gun or shooter malfunction. You may have a spare gun(s) available with you for use in case of breakage. There is no limit on the number of guns, loaders.or stuffers you may use. However, all loaded guns must at all times be under the direct physical control of the shooter or a loader. Unattended loaded guns are not permitted. Any method of handling loaded guns deemed unsafe by the event official will not be permitted.
6. Broken targets are dealt with as follows:

Pigeon Ring – 2 rounds of 15 targets each
7. No allowance will be made for either gun or shooter malfunction. You may have a spare gun(s) available with you for use in case of breakage.
